Sensei Larry Corrales  (Chief Instructor/Founder)
Chief Instructor Corrales was born in San Antonio Texas and raised partially in Santa Ana California. Divorced parents that raised him at different stages of his life raised him. Both parents taught him good values and pushed him to be his very best. He excelled in his education and graduated with Honors. He is also a decorated veteran from the U.S. Air Force. Corrales is the developer of a new program called “Blind Fury”, that teaches Cane Weaponry to the Visually Impaired for self defense. Since his vision loss he has been encountered by thugs and he also found that many that are visually impaired, have also been attacked. Hence the beginning of the future national program called “Blind Fury”. He started training in the Martial Arts at the age of 8 under Master George Hernandez in Santa Ana California. Chief Instructor Corrales has always known that he wanted to become a martial arts instructor and became an assistant instructor at the age of twelve. He received his Black Belt at the age of 19 and started his first martial arts classes at Colleges, University's, in open parks, YMCA and the U.S. Air Force, at the age of 21.

Seeing The Path and Not The Obstacle

Strength of the Tiger

As it appears Chief Instructor Corrales has the inept ability to over come almost any obstacle in his way. While serving his country in the U.S. Air Force,Instructor Corrales broke his neck and was paralyzed off and on for almost a year and through perseverance and pure drive with a smile, as he says, he over came that obstacle, proved the doctors wrong and healed with very little paralysis. His training consisted of meditation, prayer, exercise, acupuncture, and acupressure. He credits his success then to Master In Joo Suh who helped him understand the healing process better than the military doctors, which kept wanting to operate. He appeared to start healing and the said doctors told him, “Whatever you’re doing keep doing it, because you’re healing”. The miracle of faith and obedience to God that placed the right attitude in his mind, strength in his heart and the right people across his path.

The Blind Dragon

At the age of 44 Larry Corrales was diagnosed with a Craniopharyngioma Brain Tumor. This type of tumor was centered in the middle of his brain, which also rested on his optic nerves. This brain tumor almost took his life and did take his eyesight after surgery due to the extraction of this brain tumor. A Craniopharyngioma is considered one of the most difficult brain tumors to remove and could have taken his life in just a few months if the surgery had not been done. Through pure faith and perseverance, just not giving up, today Larry has some vision in one eye and it’s half, while the other eye sees light now in one lower quarter of his eye. His vision now remains stable and he and his family know that with time, not his time but God’s time, he will regain more vision. To date he is walking testimony to the power of Faith. He is unable to read without extreme magnification. He is also unable to drive or see clearly under certain light conditions. Chief Instructor Corrales feels that his visual loss has enhanced his martial arts ability and feels he sees more now with his heart than he has ever seen with eyes. It has improved his other senses and knowledge of the art.

A Master in his own right!
